| magnus müller is pleased to announce Ellen Harvey 's participation in the 2008 Whitney Biennial Ellen Harvey will show three new projects: The Museum of Failure: an installation of Collection of Impossible Subjects (rear-illuminated plexi-glas mirrors in aluminum frame hand-engraved with a salon-style hanging of empty ornate frames, 8 ft (2.44 m) x 12 ft (3.66m), 2007) and Invisible Self-Portrait in my Studio (oil painting on six wood panels of the identical frames filled with mirrors reflecting the artist’s studio during the fabrication of the painting, 8 ft (2.44 m) x 12 ft (3.66m), 2008). On view at the Whitney Museum until June 1, 2008. 100 Visitors to the Biennial Immortalized: a performance at the Park Avenue Armory in which Harvey will draw 15 minute pencil portraits of visitors in exchange for their filling out forms evaluating the success or failure of their portraits. The portraits and forms will be on view at the Park Avenue Armory until March 23 when they will be mailed to the participants. To participate, either show up during the project or reserve times in advance by emailing 100freeportraits@whitney.org. Harvey will be drawing portraits on the following dates and times: March 4 (Tuesday, press opening) 1pm - 3pm March 8 (Saturday) 12 - 8pm March 9 (Sunday) 12 - 8pm March 12 (Wednesday) 4 - 8pm March 13 (Thursday) 4 - 8pm March 14 (Friday) 4 - 8pm March 15 (Saturday) 12 -8pm March 16 (Sunday) 12 - 8pm Failed Renovation: a 45 minute video installed in the Armory Reception Room, in which Harvey attempts to recreate the obscured original hand-painted wallpaper in the room only to have it burst into flames. On view at the Park Avenue Armory until March 23. Harvey will also be giving a public presentation at the Whitney Museum, as part of the Seminar’s with Artists program, on April 10 at 7pm.
